It’s Mothers Day so when best to share my experience at Champney’s Spa with my mumma than today!

With Champneys Tring known to be one of the most renowned spas in Hertfordshire, and it being my mother’s personal favorite, I was overwhelmed with excitement when we were both invited to a spa experience. It is famous for its breakthrough in the spa industry in 1925, and has ensured that it has remained true to is ethos of keeping up with developments and being the back drop to a vast array of health innovations.

The day started at 1pm, with a personal greeting from the spa manager Lisa who blessed us with strawberries and chocolates amongst other treats! You all know that throughout all my collaborations I have consistently highlighted that a personal touch is everything for me and Champneys’s portrayed just this. We were surrounded by 170 acres of the most stunning greenery and set a #ZEN like no other.

Once inside, we were greeted by our therapists Sarah and Georgia who would ensure the smooth running of the day. Sarah gave me a personal tour around the spa, and the grounds and then initiated a consultation to best suit the treatments to my needs and problem areas.

Sarah and Georgia provided a detailed overview of the treatments that would best suit us and highlighted that I should undergo the Champney’s Hot Poultice Massage due to my back aches. This 80-minute treatment at a cost of £120 is a rebalancing, rhythmic massage using heated coconut poultices and gently warmed oils to relax muscles, release tensions and nourish the body. Following this massage, I was surprised at the reward. A deep feeling of relaxation astounded me – my knots in my body following the tapping, pressing and massaging had been released. I highly recommend this treatment, however if you suffer from high/low blood pressure, circulatory problems, epilepsy, thrombosis or varicose veins or are pregnant, the therapist would not recommend it.

Both myself and my mother also enjoyed ‘Ultimate Facials’. My mum was blessed with the Carita Cinetic Lift, which usually costs £125. As Champneys signature facial, it promises to lift, reduce the look of fine lines and reveal radiance. The way it works is a three-step facial which combines micro-currents, ultrasound and LED technologies in just 85 minutes. My mum regularly treats herself to facials and was yet to find one that shows such visible treatments after just one treatment. She now regularly visits Champneys once a month and gets the Carita Cinetic Lift Expert Booster Facial as she is so happy with the results. Again, this treatment is not recommended to anyone that suffers from high/low blood pressure, circulatory problems, diabetes, epilepsy, heart conditions, cold sores/skin infections/eye infections or if you are pregnant or undergoing cancer treatment.

The facial treatment that I had was the Champneys Collagen Gold Facial, available at a cost of £75. I was super excited for this since there is so much hype among celebrities of the likes of Cameron Diaz, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian about the effects. I was not disappointed – the rich mask smelt amazing and made my skin feel brighter and plumper! The only thing I would change is the timing of this treatment. I felt that the mask could have been kept on for longer, but did not feel rushed in any way. My highlight of the treatment was the dripping of Rose Gold Elixir Oil on my face – with extracts of Rosehip seed oil, which is high in linoleic acids, Vitamin C and Vitamin A (retinol), I found that the pigmentation on my skin became less visible.

Following the treatments, myself and my mum had a nap in the relaxation room and upon waking up we reflected on our experience. Gaining feedback from her, she highlighted that she was extremely happy with the professionalism of staff and felt relaxed the moment she arrived. Champneys Tring sapped away all the stresses our shoulders were holding.

I hope this Mother’s Day is full of joy, love and gratitude for all the amazing mothers out there. Motherhood is a huge lifelong commitment and one of the biggest learning curves and yet we have mums that do it so flawlessly. For those whose mothers are no longer with them, I hope you can find peace in the memories you hold with them and know they are looking down on you very proud! Together, let’s honor maternal bonds and the huge influence they have on society.

Thank you Champneys, we’ll be back soon!
