I went to Marrakech for the weekend, which was a super last minute but unforgettable trip. Here a total rundown of all the hotels I stayed in and what you need to know!

Rui Hotel, Agadir

Rui catapulted me back to a cruise to the Bahamas from Miami that I was on several years ago. It had both a young and older crowd but had a similar feel to an all inclusive cruise trip – with wrist bands upon entry and all. The rooms were modern, and had all the amenities we needed. We dined in the restaurant and had a buffet dinner filled with everything you can imagine eating (also very cruise like). I enjoyed the breadth of choice, presentation was fantastic. Though it wouldn’t be my first choice for an intimate dinner setting due to the chaos of a buffet style meal. After dinner, we went to the bar which featured live karaoke and some serious talent. With our wrist bands as our currency for free drinks, the night was full of fun. I liked Rui’s location since it was super close to bars such as VIP and Papagayo (popular hotspots for both tourists and locals in Agadir). Our stay was comfortable, we were made to feel at home and the staff were great. I’d rate the hotel a 6/10. Though the service was great, it wouldn’t be the first hotel I’d choose to go back.

Sofitel, Agadir

We then moved on to Sofitel Agadir, which was right up my street. We stayed at Sofitel Agadir Thalassa Sea instead of Sofitel Royal Bay since the former is a new build, far more modern and has better reviews. I loved how Mariam was super friendly and informative at check-in, the manner in which Moroccan tea was served upon arrival and the tour of the grounds. It was a very personal welcome. We arrived at 12am and ordered room service to fill our tummies. Though the order was wrong, upon calling room service – staff were totally on par with delivering everything all over again, just the way I wanted it. It is the little things that go a very long way.

I also admired the grounds, the fact the hotel was only a two minute walk to the beach, the buzz and the atmosphere of the pool bars. I loved the decor, the gallery in the lobby which featured an artist called Malek who was so incredibly talented (save some change to take home some art – it’s worth it). Although we stayed at Sofitel Thalassa, we visited Sofitel Royal Bay So Bar, which has Sheesha and live music. So if you do find yourself wanting to chase after good vibes, that is most definitely an option. I would highly recommend Sofitel Agadir Thalassa Sea and Spa if you’re visiting. It is a safe 7.5/10.

La Mamounia, Marrakech

After Agadir, we went back to Marrakech. La Mamounia Marrakech was hands my favourite hotel during my trip. From the onset, we felt the sophisticated luxury and comfort of the five-star palace hotel. Jemaa el-Fnaa Square in Marrakesh is a short walk away, so it is set in a perfect backdrop.

We were immediately welcomed and seated upon arrival. The staff were draped in beautiful traditional Morrocan attire and explained important details about our stay over healthy juice shots.

The Deluxe room was to die for. It had a stunning traditional Moroccan feel, which really sets it apart from commercial hotels. We chose the Park View which was stunning. You wake up and see the most beautiful gardens. It is truly breathtaking.  Food wise – you are far from limited with 4 restaurants, with 4 different styles and cuisine.

My favourite part of the hotel has to be the spa. It is  a gentle, peaceful atmosphere in an authentic Moroccan interior. You simply get lost in the beautiful windows, arcades and alcoves, which creates a perfect balance between open and closed spaces. I had a hammam and full body massage. The only difficulty I had at the spa was choosing from the spa menu because I wanted everything! Overall, I would highly recommend La Mamounia. It has totally become my go to when visiting Marrakech. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The hotel places you in the epicentre of Moroccan culture, and will cater to your needs relentlessly. I would love to also check Sofitel Marrakech, but that’s for another blog. I would comfortably recommend La Mamounia a 9/10. Below are some highlights of the hotel.
